Email Verifier
Run a real-time syntax, MX, disposable and role-mailbox check on any email address and get an instant deliverability score.
How email verification works
We run four fast checks: RFC-style syntax validation, an MX lookup on the domain, a disposable-provider match, and a role-mailbox detection (info@, support@, sales@, …). The combined deliverability score helps you decide whether to send.
Why bounces matter
Mailbox providers measure your bounce rate as a primary trust signal. A campaign with more than 5% bounces will get throttled or filtered to spam. Verifying upfront keeps your reputation clean.
What we don't do
We don't perform live SMTP RCPT probes from this free tool — providers like Google now return false positives for most accept-all domains. Icemail uses a multi-provider waterfall and catch-all detection on every enrichment.
Email verification FAQs
What bounce rate is safe for cold email?
Keep hard bounces under two percent per campaign. Between two and five percent you are already burning reputation, and above five percent mailbox providers begin throttling or filtering everything from the domain. Verifying before you import is far cheaper than recovering a damaged sending domain.
Why does a valid-looking address still bounce?
Syntax and MX checks confirm the domain can receive mail, not that the specific mailbox exists. People change jobs, aliases get retired, and catch-all domains accept everything then discard it later. Treat verification as risk reduction, not a guarantee.
Should I email role addresses like info@ or sales@?
Rarely. Shared mailboxes are monitored by several people, get marked as spam more often, and almost never convert in one-to-one outreach. They are useful for support and billing contact, not for prospecting.
How do I handle catch-all domains?
Segment them into a separate list, send at lower volume from mailboxes you can afford to rest, and watch the bounce and reply signals closely. If a catch-all segment underperforms, drop it rather than pushing volume.
Ship cold email that actually lands
